A Network of Memorial Places, Ogulin

The project is conceived as a network of small memorial interventions embedded in the landscape. Rather than isolated monuments, the spaces connect memory, everyday use and local identity.

Memorial to the Croatian Defenders

The existing low wall defines the perimeter of the memorial garden. Within this enclosed landscape, a vertical cross rises as the central element of remembrance.

Gravel, grass and planting create a restrained setting, while the existing tree provides shade and establishes the space as a place for gathering and quiet reflection.

The Former Watering Place

Located on the site of a former fountain where livestock once drank, the intervention reinterprets the memory of water through a narrow linear channel.

Two stone walls frame the space and incorporate timber seating. The monument becomes part of the landscape and functions as an everyday place to sit, meet and pause.

Together, these interventions form a network of places where memorial space is not separated from daily life, but integrated into the landscape and the community.
