Masterplan Januševec

Januševec is conceived as a new centre for Brdovec: a mixed-use urban district structured around housing, public space and landscape. Residential blocks, parks and community facilities form a compact urban fabric, while a continuous pedestrian route connects the development with the historic Januševec Castle and its wider green setting.

The programme of the new district emerged through a participatory study developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. Local residents were invited to articulate the spaces and facilities they considered necessary for the future of Brdovec, directly informing the development of the project.

Housing is combined with spaces for sport, recreation, culture and everyday social life. The Brdovec Integration Centre forms one of the key public anchors, complemented by sports facilities, a swimming complex, market, restaurants and outdoor gathering spaces.

Rather than treating new development and landscape as separate systems, Januševec proposes an urban framework in which density, public life and greenery are developed together.
